Most mutual fund investors have no idea what their portfolio is actually returning.

Their app says “+34%.” Their statement says “current value ₹8.4L.” But what does that actually mean compared to what they put in — and when?

That’s exactly what AFS Wealth Lens solves. This guide walks you through how to use it, what each result means, and what to do with the information.

What is AFS Wealth Lens?

AFS Wealth Lens is a free, 100% client-side portfolio analyser that reads your CAMS or KFintech Consolidated Account Statement (CAS) PDF and gives you:

The key difference from every other tool: your PDF never leaves your device. It is processed entirely in your browser. No server. No upload. No data stored anywhere.

Step 1 — Get Your CAS PDF

Before you can use the tool, you need your Consolidated Account Statement.

From CAMS:

  1. Go to camsonline.com
  2. Click Statements → Consolidated Account Statement
  3. Choose Detailed (not Summary)
  4. Enter your email and PAN
  5. Select date range: Since Inception (for complete history) or Last 1 year (for recent returns)
  6. You’ll receive the PDF in your email within 2 minutes

From KFintech:

  1. Go to kfintech.com
  2. Click Investor Services → Account Statement
  3. Same process — enter email, PAN, get PDF by email

Important: Download the password-protected version (it’s the default). The password is usually your PAN number in uppercase, or your registered mobile number. AFS Wealth Lens supports password-protected PDFs — you’ll be prompted to enter the password after uploading.

Step 2 — Upload Your PDF

  1. Go to AFS Wealth Lens
  2. You’ll see a blue upload zone with a dashed border
  3. Either drag and drop your CAS PDF onto it, or click Choose PDF File
  4. If your PDF is password-protected, a small unlock box appears — enter your password (PAN or mobile number)
  5. The tool reads your statement locally — you’ll see a progress bar

This takes about 5–15 seconds depending on how many folios you have.

Step 3 — Understanding Your Results

Once processed, you’ll see four sections:

1. Fund-wise Breakup

This shows every fund in your portfolio with:

ColumnWhat it means
Fund NameScheme name as in CAMS/KFintech
CategoryLarge Cap, Mid Cap, Flexi Cap, Debt, etc.
InvestedTotal amount put in (all SIPs + lumpsum)
Current ValueToday’s value
XIRRYour actual annualised return
VerdictOne-line assessment

What to look for: Any fund with XIRR below 8% for equity deserves a review. If it’s underperforming its own category benchmark, it may be time to switch.

2. Overlap Analysis

This is the section most investors find most surprising.

If you have 4 equity mutual funds, you might assume you’re diversified. But if 3 of them are Large Cap funds, they’re probably holding 60–75% of the same stocks.

The overlap analysis shows you:

Common finding: Investors holding Nifty 50 Index Fund + Large Cap Fund + Multi Cap Fund often have 65–75% overlap in the top 30 stocks.

3. Estimated Tax Liability

This estimates your LTCG and STCG if you were to redeem everything today.

For FY 2025-26:

This is an estimate — consult a tax professional for exact calculations. But it gives you a useful picture before you make redemption decisions.

4. Portfolio Score (out of 10)

The score is based on:

A score of 7+ is good. Below 5 means your portfolio needs a conversation.

Step 4 — Connect with AFS

At the bottom of your results, you’ll see a WhatsApp CTA with your portfolio summary pre-filled in the message.

One tap opens WhatsApp with your key numbers already written — XIRR, current value, score. No need to type anything. We review it and respond within one business day.

This is completely optional and free. AFS never charges for a portfolio review.

What AFS Wealth Lens Does NOT Do

To set expectations clearly:

Frequently Asked Questions

Is my data safe? Yes. Your PDF is processed entirely in your browser using PDF.js. Nothing is sent to any server. We have no backend database storing your information.

Which PDF formats work? CAMS Detailed CAS, KFintech CAS, and MFCentral statements. Password-protected versions work too.

What if my XIRR is very low or shows an error? This can happen if your statement has very recent transactions (less than 30 days old) or if the date format in an older statement doesn’t match. Try with a statement that includes at least 90 days of history.

Can I use it on mobile? Yes. AFS Wealth Lens is fully mobile-responsive. Upload from your phone’s files or Google Drive.
